Data Collection
We do not collect personal data. Period.
- No user accounts or registration required
- No email addresses collected
- No personal information stored
- No tracking pixels or analytics scripts
Session Data
We use temporary session cookies solely for managing your downloads:
- Purpose: Track your last 10 downloads during your session
- Duration: Sessions expire after 1 hour of inactivity or when you close your browser
- Storage: Downloaded files are automatically deleted when your session ends or when they exceed the 10-file limit
- Security: Session cookies are HTTP-only and cannot be accessed by JavaScript
Cookies
We use only essential session cookies:
- Session Cookie: Required for file management and download tracking
- No Third-Party Cookies: We do not use any third-party tracking or advertising cookies
- No Persistent Cookies: All cookies are session-based and deleted when you close your browser
Third-Party Services
YouTube URL processing:
- YouTube URLs are processed server-side using yt-dlp (an open-source tool)
- No data is sent to YouTube or any third-party services from our servers
- Video downloads are performed directly on our server
- We do not share your download history or URLs with anyone
Server Logs
Standard server logs may contain:
- IP addresses (for security and abuse prevention)
- Request timestamps
- Error messages (for debugging)
- Retention: Logs are retained for 30 days maximum and then automatically deleted
- Access: Logs are only accessed for security purposes or technical troubleshooting
Browser Extension
Our Chromium extension:
- Only activates on YouTube pages
- Stores preferences locally in your browser (API endpoint, default format/quality)
- Does not track your browsing history
- Does not collect or transmit any personal data
- Communicates only with your configured EasyDL API endpoint
Your Rights
You have complete control over your data:
- Clear Session Data: Close your browser or clear cookies to immediately delete all session data
- Delete Files: Use the delete button next to any download to remove it from our servers
- No Data Retention: We don't retain any data beyond your active session
Security
We implement industry-standard security measures:
- Session-based authentication for file access
- Input validation to prevent malicious requests
- Secure file serving (files cannot be accessed without valid session)
- Protection against directory traversal and command injection attacks
- HTTPS encryption (when SSL certificate is configured)
